What is the V-16 Beacon?

The V-16 beacon, officially known as the “V-16 Hazard Warning Device,” is a smart, connected emergency light that drivers must carry in their vehicles. This amber-colored device does two critical things simultaneously:

• Emits a powerful 360-degree flashing light visible from up to 1,000 meters away (compared to just 100 meters for triangles)
• Automatically transmits your vehicle’s GPS location to the DGT 3.0 (Dirección General de Tráfico) connected vehicle platform, alerting other drivers through navigation apps and traffic management systems
